Marten is a registered psychologist with the South Australian Psychology Board, and is a Member of the Australian Psychological Society.
He has trained extensively in counselling, family therapy, individual therapy, relationship counselling and health. Marten has worked in the welfare field providing services, the workplace setting and critical incident management for children, adolescents and adults.. His clinical experience ranges across childhood behavioural and developmental problems, substance abuse and dependence, attachment problems and adult mental health problems.
Marten takes a unique approach to psychotherapy with a focus on family systems, attachment, mindfulness, neuro-psychotherapy, cognitive and behavioural therapy. Working with a client’s presenting request, an approach is tailored to suit individual and family needs.
In addition to providing services in private practice Marten has been involved with the training and supervision of Counsellors, Psychologists and Family Therapists from University and TAFE, and currently teaches students involved in the Complex Needs Clinic at Bower Place. Marten is an executive Board Member of the Australian & New Zealand Journal of Family Therapy.
